Sorama, market leader in acoustic cameras, has officially expanded its operations to the United States, aiming to make American cities safer and quieter. With the opening of its first US office and the initiation of the first loud vehicle detection projects, Sorama continues its mission to reduce noise pollution and improve urban life.

Sorama is working together with Axis Communications, market leader in IP-video. Today, both companies announced that they have signed a strategic partner contract in San Francisco. The event took place during a Dutch trade mission in California and Texas, in the presence of Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. The mission highlighted the potential for Dutch technology companies to contribute to the US mobility sector.

Smart cities

For years, Sorama and Axis have been working together in Europe to enhance safety, security, and quality of life in major cities. By combining Sorama’s noise monitoring expertise with Axis’s video surveillance technology, they offer a unique solution that reduces noise pollution and improves urban safety. The first deployment for Sorama’s solution will be in the city of Newport, Rhode Island, where the city’s historical and congested urban layout required a flexible and non-intrusive approach. Sorama’s system offered versatility with options for both pole-mounted and mobile units.

Loud Vehicle Detection (LVD)

Sorama’s Loud Vehicle Detection (LVD) solution identifies and maps environmental and traffic noise, targeting excessive vehicle noise to counteract urban noise pollution. This is crucial for cities because noise pollution has been proven to have a negative impact on citizens’ health.
